“…to know even one life has breathed easier, because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

That quote is the perfect, two sentence explanation of why I decided to become a yoga teacher. I “found” yoga in 2011 after a car accident left me with an injured lower back, whiplash, and unable to do my normal gym activities. Little did I know walking into my first class, it would quite literally change my life. My first teacher, Karin Fellman, left an impression on my that is still, seven years later, hard to articulate. I left her class telling myself, “if I can make one person feel as good as she does, I will be happy.” That chance class kick started my life in yoga. I detail my journey further in my “Origin Story” blog post.

In 2017, I decided to take the leap and finally do my teacher training. Hours were spent researching and finding what I felt was the perfect spot to start my journey. Luckily, the studio I selected was a mere 3kms from where I was living. In February 2018, I completed my 200Hour Vinyasa Teacher Training at In Yoga with Nicole Walsh and Rod Galbraith.

While I do enjoy a good flow, my passion and love of yoga extends beyond Vinyasa. There is something to be said for holding, luxuriating in an asana for an extended period, as in Hatha-style or Yin. I enjoy teaching all versions of moving meditation (asana).

If you’d like to know more you can read about my journey on the blog.
